哈希与加密 — About These Tools

Hash functions compress any input into a fixed-length fingerprint; encoders like Base64 and URL encoding make binary data safe to transport. Use these tools to verify downloads, generate checksums, create secrets, and encode data — computed locally, nothing uploaded.

常见问题

Which hash should I use?

SHA-256 for anything security-related today. MD5 and SHA-1 are fine for checksums but broken for signatures — do not use them where collision resistance matters.

Is hashing the same as encryption?

No. Hashing is one-way — you cannot recover the input. Encryption is two-way with a key. Encoding like Base64 is not encryption at all and is trivially reversible.

Why do identical files sometimes produce different hashes?

They should not — identical bytes always produce an identical hash with the same algorithm. If hashes differ, the files differ somewhere, even if they look the same.
